A Culture-Free AST, Built on Metabolic Activity

Vivid Dx uses Raman spectroscopy to perform phenotypic AST by measuring deuterium (D₂O) uptake—revealing the metabolic activity of individual bacterial cells instead of relying on growth signals.

  • Resistant cells continue to metabolize in the presence of antibiotics

  • Sensitive cells show suppressed or halted metabolic activity

This unique signal appears in the “silent zone” of the Raman spectrum (~2100 cm⁻¹), enabling rapid assessment of antibiotic response — in just 3 hours — without waiting days for blood culture results.
